SJO plays The New Bandbook

The Subway Jazz Orchestra has been enriching the German big band scene with varied and captivating programmes since 2013. The concerts stand for intimate and unforgettable top-class musical experiences - characterised by energetic solos, powerful orchestral sounds and an enthusiastic audience. Over the past 12 years, the band has given well over 100 concerts and rehearsed more than 1,000 compositions and arrangements.

The SJO\CGN has now compiled a new band book from this extensive repertoire. In addition to the works of in-house composers Jens Böckamp, Johannes Ludwig and Stefan Karl Schmid, the focus is on compositions by high-calibre guest artists from recent years. These include international greats such as Miho Hazama, Guillermo Klein and Maria Schneider, as well as national protagonists such as Hendrika Entzian and Christian Elsässer. Works created especially for the SJO, for example from the "European Composers" series, are also represented.

The upcoming concerts will present a carefully curated selection of these compositions and promise colourful, contemporary big band music at the highest level - played with infectious enthusiasm and collective energy.
